North American F86F Sabre

The North American F86 Sabre was a second generation jet fighter used by the United States Air Fprce during the Korean War. A direct response to the Russian Mig-15, the F86 was the first swept wing fighter used by the United States. Borrowing heavily from captured German technology, the F86 was an excellent air superiority fighter that once introduced, out performed the Russian Migs in many ways. Although outdated by the end of the war, the F86 will be remembered as the fighter that won the air war in the skies above Korea.
