The CB-12, or Cargo Boat-12, emerged as a response to the growing demand for a versatile and stable LNG carrier suitable for various operating conditions. Its design integrates three tanks for liquefied natural gas storage, two engines for enhanced propulsion redundancy, and a ballast keel for stability. Recognizing the importance of stability, especially during cargo transfer operations, pontoons were incorporated into the design to provide additional buoyancy and resistance to rolling motions. The distinctive dumpy yet straight bow design not only maximizes cargo capacity but also improves seakeeping performance, ensuring smoother sailing even in rough seas. This innovative combination of features makes the CB-12 a reliable and efficient solution for LNG transportation, capable of navigating challenging waterways while maintaining safety and operational effectiveness.
