a type of synth built by furry space agency and NASA called REX is a very large t rex looking synth, half the size of the apollo 11 spacecraft. it is equipped with a giant printer inside its torso. the printer requires materials, and instructions. the core instructions that are built-in to REX's computer tell the printer how to create a miniature version of itself. a material capsule is slightly similar to a reproduction gamete, as it contains the materials needed to create anything that can fit into a convenient metal box inside REX and can be deployed later. when a variant of REX requires a specific material, another REX can deploy one of their capsules and transfer it to the other REX via the pelvic bay. the pelvic bay can be used to transmit capsules/receive them, there is also a short-range antenna inside that can transmit/receive instructions. the tail contains most of the material capsules. the deployment bay is at the bottom of REX's torso and is basically where metal boxes of things get pooped out like in astroneer. you may be wondering why there is oxygen and nitrogen capsules. REX is designed to build colonies for uhh living things such as not himself. REX can reproduce itself by printing offspring while the instructions are slightly randomized so that none of them are clones ever. this feature was added because REX might become intelligent enough to be its own civilization and act like one of those living thingies.
