Replica of the Valkyrie VTOL shuttle-craft from James Cameron's Avatar built to scale with the Venture Star replica. This vehicle has a double decked cargo bay and an in-space range of about 21 km/s.

PLEASE READ ALL OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

AGs are labeled. Slider 1 operates angle of the engines, Slider 2 the cargo bay ramp, Slider 3 the upper deck ramp, and Slider 4 the autohover.

To operate VTOL the engines should be first tilted vertical and AG 3 (differential thrust) MUST be enabled! Without AG 3 enabled, you will have no control over the craft!!

NO GYROS WERE USED in the making of this product and RCS is NOT REQUIRED for VTOL control. Built into the engines are differential thrust controllers to achieve pitch and roll control. Yaw control is acheived by offset tilting the engine nacelles.

IMPORTANT, short control inputs are required for controllability in airbreathing mode. Engine spooling must be accounted for. The engines may be switched to a CLOSED-CYCLE mode for either more thrust or VTOL in vacuum. Closed-cycle throttle response is faster, so again, short control inputs.

Included is an AUTOHOVER PROGRAM. To use, activate AG 9 (autohover) and control vertical velocity with Slider 4. 0% is 0 m/s.

The vehicle also supports FULL TRANSLATION IN VTOL, forwards/backwards, right/left, up/down, by tilting the engine nacelles. This can be used for precision control!
