What happens when you strap an extremely overpowered Ion Engine to an aircraft with as much surface area as possible without being "too unstable" to fly..
well i am answering that burning question with this truly insane build.
it goes fast enough to destroy itself due to friction. Yet it is still highly maneuverable and pretty light as well
not much to say about this prototype because i threw it together in a couple hours last night.
Enjoy! XD
side note it operates underwater (not on top) as well, but going from air to liquid is a suicide mission because I have not strengthened the wings and fuselage enough to withstand hitting the water at any speed basically.

@VectronTechnologies I appreciate the tips. I should refer you to a few of my other posts though lol. Yeah I haven't done anything to make this thing heat resistant. I can up the max temp threshold for all the parts that make contact with the plasma flow on the outside of the craft. Unfortunately I didn't do this yet just because it took very little effort to make it hypersonic and I just wanted to get it up before I forgot about it in my unlisted crafts page like so so many others haha, I'm a bit of a scramble brained builder. Anyway I'll update this one soon more than likely.
Thank you for checking it out and for the awesome feedback! XD
Really thought it would flat spin super easy but I was very wrong.

@VectronTechnologies flies like a hypersonic pancake lmao XD
The bar behind the cockpit falls off because I forgot to attach it back to the craft. It's not necessary for good flight but I'm too lazy to fix it yet lol
You did a great job streamlining the craft. It had great acceleration, and was able to glide well (gliding is flying a craft with zero throttle.) It turned well too. The only issue I can see is that your craft isn't very heat resistant, and that's what caused the craft to be destroyed. The cockpit started burning at around Mach 4.16 in my test, but the maximum safety speed is probably lower. Then the wings started burning. At the end only the cockpit (without the astronaut), the engine, and the body were left after it plunged into the water because I killed the throttle to attempt to cool down the craft. If you want to have crafts that can reach really high speeds, you need to make them heat-resistant.
