The "Maverick" air-to-surface missile is a project undertaken by the AGM-65 System Project Office of the U.S. Air Force Aviation Systems Agency, developed and produced by Hughes Aircraft Company and Raytheon Company. It can accurately strike point targets, mainly used to strike small fixed or moving targets, such as tanks, armored vehicles, airports, missile launch sites, artillery positions, field command posts, and large fixed targets
