This rocket is an ingame replica of the rocket that took my team to National Finals in the 2017 TARC competition. She wore our school colors to launch in Washington D.C
She was designed to carry a payload of an Egg, and an Altimeter to 775 feet(qualifications) and 800 feet (Finals) as well as launch and return in 41-43 seconds.
In qualifications flights our rocket actually scored roughly 11 points (the closer to 0, the better) Her target altitude was 775 feet and we got 776 feet, Her target time was 41-43 seconds and we got around 45-48 seconds (dont remember exactly its been a while). This win in Qualifications enabled us to go to Finals in D.C. Which was a great experience for the team. California to D.C. (whoop)
Sadly, during the flight to D.C., we forgot about our rockets carrying device and its pressure, so when the plane hit high altitude the pressure difference caused the airtight case to compress against our rocket damaging her fins, which led to a launch failure during the finals match and we only gained an altitude of 300 feet.
Ingame she meets her height specifications exactly, With each of her real life Centimeters translating to Meters in game. I was going to scale her down to a 1:1 ratio, but a rocket that weighs less than a kilogram and was around 65 centimeters wouldn't work well. So i scaled her up. This was the teams main rocket, and in the future i will be working on Translating some of our 3D modeled rockets into here, just to show you some of the crazy ideas we had after the 2017 season ended.
Links below include our rockets qualifying flight, as well as a screenshot showing the Modelling software we based our rocket off of for design aspects.
Oh, and our team name was the TARC Side (Get it, do you get the joke?)
