Launched in 1982 on STS-5, SBS-3 is a geostationary communications satellite designed by the likes of Hughes, who also designed the Surveyor series of lunar landing crafts. Deployment utilized something called a "sunshade" to keep the satellite under protective cover from solar radiation while the cargo bay doors were open.

I'm hoping to have this kick off a new series of crafts I may or may not be keeping a good schedule on.
If ever I have free time from my studies, I'm going to be recreating a series of satellites that have been deployed by the Space Shuttle, dubbed the Space Shuttle Satellite Series (or SSSS). These are going to be simpler builds that aren't going to entail as much effort as say some of my interior projects. That said, I still have some interior projects in mind (that I haven't yet started) that I do hope to get out in due time.
