The IXR-1U is an upgraded variant of the IXR-1 launch vehicle.
Like the initial IXR-1, the first three stages use solid motors, and the fourth stage uses a methalox electric pump-fed liquid engine. (Theoretically, payloads could be taken to orbit without the fourth stage, but it would require precise burns and would likely be inaccurate. I haven't tested it, though, so I'm not sure.)
The upgraded version has improved tanks, aerodynamics, an updated launch profile and an increased payload capacity of 17t to LEO (the original was 15t).
Most of the flight is automated, including separations (for a maximum payload). However, the third-stage trajectory has to be manually controlled by setting the pitch to 45 degrees and lowering to 30, then 15, and then prograde once the time to apoapsis starts to increase.
Since the fourth stage is liquid-fueled you can plan the burn as usual after separation.
