The Famous Starfighter!
Known as the Widowmaker for being such a dangerous plane to fly: the F-104 was the imbodiment of the 50s way of thinking.
These vessels were upgraded by NASA becoming the NF-104, the aircraft used to train astronauts. The craft was aided with RCS nozzels in the wings and nose, and rocket motor on the tail to compensate for the jet engine's lack of thrust at altitude. These crafts could get up to a staggering 125,000ft.
This version however, was not capable of such feats. It was on the other hand, a remarkable response to the Korean Mig-15s.
