So kicking off the first Alpha Version of A.E.R.O.s new project is: uh, oh wait! We don’t have an official model name for A.E.R.O.s First Space Shuttle! We need a name so PLEASE give your suggestions below!
Now this project started as I realized that A.E.R.O.s number one priority was to start launching their state of the art satellites and to help with the development of their own and other allied space stations!
This is the giant booster that goes under the space shuttle. The shuttle itself will not begin production until we get to at least the beta version of the booster. And unlike NASAs Shuttle the this one will be round and will sit on top of the booster instead of stuck on it. And it will be 100% reusable, the big booster will have landing legs so that it can come back down and land vertically. The shuttle will continue its mission and then land horizontally on the runaway.
(Here is the private post where me and the other Engineers were trying to work on it)
If you want to be part of the flying of this project, be sure to sign up for one of our astronaut positions!
There is still a LOT of work that needs to be done on the booster before it’s finnished such as:
SimpleLandia flag
A.E.R.O. logo
Landing legs
grid fins
measurement specifications
engine rearangments
and a whole lot of details that A.E.R.O.s Avionics Engineers and I need to work on, but for now please try to come up with some beautiful names for this state of the art creation!
Update!!!
- A Forum Post for those who want to submit their name suggestions
- The boosters will be called SSO's (Space Shuttle Orbiters) and the Space Shuttles will be called OCT's (Orbital Cargo Transporters)
here are some images that inspired me to start this project:

And the most inspiring image that helped me start on this booster:
SpaceX ITS booster:
(But instead of fins there will be landing legs that also work as fins)

that's a lot of engines
@MyMessage Well, I forgot to mention that there's currently a RP for SR2, you can join here! (Discord invitation link)
yeah T_T @AstronautPlanes
Oh wow, somehow ended here, sadly A.E.R.O is kinda dead at this point TwT
@KellyxJohnson yeah
oh no, its fine, this was not a mistake @KellyxJohnson
Heh @Emin2904
we will name this, spiritual
Name it budget cuts.
OOh, looks interesting, will get on it tomorrow
:)
@StrikeFighter04 sorry I forgot to tag you sooner
@Jetspeed1001 eh, well i dont know, i kinda like is as it is but i guess i could try to do it, ill post it privately so that you can see it
@MyMessage i mean like, just the blue circle part would need to be squished together
well I didn't want to squish any of them together, maybe if I left a ring of six Apex engines still inside and turned their fuel consumption up it would work. I'll see if I can work on that soo then make a private post. @Jetspeed1001
@MyMessage to get the shuttle off of the ground, it will need more power
@MyMessage Can you add like one more ring of engines on the bottom? just make them a bit closer together so you can fit more. I'm not good at making the circle pattern of engines.
@MyMessage Very good
@Jetspeed1001 yeah, lol, I was experimenting, trying to make some grid fins, then when I added some solerpanels to see if they would work... and i ran out of time and so i just ended up leaving them there.
@MyMessage and, i don't think there is a need for solar arrays on a booster
@MyMessage i removed the apexes, still works great with fuel consumption at 250%. however, rather slow and heavy at liftoff, which could be a problem for when the shuttle is on top of it
Also I couldn’t really do any touches to the booster so I guess you could work on removing the Apexes unless they help, so you can just work on that and then upload it privately so I can look at it, ok? @Jetspeed1001
Yeah, couldn’t get the booster off the ground until I cheated by putting a whole bunch of Apex Engines inside of the fuel tank I was waiting to see if anyone would notice that but no one did XD @Jetspeed1001
Ok yeah I understand, I just got SR2 like 2 Daly’s ago so no rush XD @AstronautPlanes
By the way, FTW the landing of today's booster!!
Hello! @MyMessage
I have just got off from school! (yeah I have summer vacations cause I live on Chile)
In some days I will have SR2, not because of money problems, but of time problems.
This booster looks cool! It has a lot of Delta-V...
EDIT: Gojira Booster would be a good name (that's from a KSP BFR replica mod :/) I would also name it "Santa Maria" cause it's Cristobal Colon main ship that made it to America. (Cristobal would be the spaceship 😆 )
