Auto Credit Based on KellyNyanbinary's KAL Beta 3

Small update here.

KAL 0.6.19:

Automatically launches rocket to orbit!

This craft has the Kell Auto-Launch Program attached.

Note: your own rocket must be flyable by hand, aerodynamically stable, has no funky staging, and with an extra 10% to 20% margin.
Booster engines that do not ignite at the same time as main engines and ullage engines tend to break the staging program.

Usage:
  1. Download the craft.
  2. Save the program as "KAL"
  3. Load your own rocket
  4. Load "KAL" on it
  5. Launch!

The SLS featured is anjulmusic's. It has edited staging to have the boosters and main engines ignite simultaneously.

Do I just say Kal Auto orbit? I'm trying :)

Well thank you and it works really well with the other rockets so nice work ^_^

I mostly used the endeavor and made some changes to it like igniting the boosters together and changing the angle of the shuttle i used those smaller pad to launch
it since it faces the opposite way

Each shuttle is too different. I can’t make such a program. @PravdaEarth

Does it work for Space shuttles? if not can you make a program that works for space shuttles?

It Worked With My Rocket, Very Helpfull

When I try to launch it it took too long to launch I could even launch it could you fix that in the future please

No. Roll is different for each craft. @epickoolman789

KAL does have room for improvement. However at its current state it can launch rockets that have 6 minutes of second stage burn time at a TWR of 0.4 @bspawn

@Kell Whether or not upper stage TWR is sufficient depends on the first part of the ascent trajectory.

My craft and my own script reach 100*100km orbit, upper stage TWR starts at about 1.0.
It starts gravity turn sooner then KAL and keeps twr below ~2.1, twr during 1st part of the gravity turn is kept at 1.75.
1st stage reaches close-to-desired orbital speed before it runs out and then has an apoapsis just short of target apoapsis. (also it does much of the ascent with "lock on prograde").
With KAL its speed still has a long way to go when it has established target apoapsis (to high a target apoapsis in this case). All i'm saying is: KAL has room for improvement.

It goes in a higher orbit to in case the upper stage has a pathetic TWR and needs more time to circularize. @bspawn

Is the variable "targetOrbitHeight" supposed to be the altitude of the orbit that the craft ends up in?

Even with the demo craft provided with KAL, it does not achieve that orbital altitude. It gets to an orbit well above targetOrbitHeight (~115km vs 80km).

Using KAL with a craft of mine i noticed that variable "targetApoapsis" is reset to a high value (~25%higher than targetOrbitHeight) when staging during gravity turn (currentAcceleration temporarily drops to zero). When that happens late in the gravity turn there is not enough time to reduce targetApoapsis down to targetOrbitHeight, and the craft ends up in to high an orbit.
(i did install the updated version of KAL)

hey why is not working I used my rocket but the roll isn't happening plz fix

I used my KAL on your autolauncher. Your algorithm and mine both entered orbit with 8% of propellant remaining in the second stage. @laserborn88

    What is “unconventional” @laserborn88

    4.9 years ago
  • Profile image

I burns at an unconventional angle in order to increase orbital velocity when you could gain the same velocity in a more conventional burn and use considerably less fuel. @Kell

Is that a real gravity turn, though, or an altitude turn?
The facts that your code relies on altitude readouts during turn and that I haven't found any way to read attitude in Vizzy suggest as much.

    Or by targeting the craft?

I can’t. Vizzy can not obtain the location of another craft. @noobplayer2409
