My favorite rover, curiosity, released a 1.8 billion pixel 360 degree panorama of mars. Incredible. So, naturally, this motivated me to recreate Curiosity. And the Atlas V, because, why not?
I spent hours, and hours building and testing this. It includes the launch pad, Atlas V, orbital stage, transfer stage, and the “land pod” or whatever it is called, the pod that carries curiosity to mars. This includes the sky crane, which is fairly easily controlled. It is stable, and is almost overpowered.
I will post a fully automatic version soon. Maybe a week or two. From launch, to encounter, to landing, and deploy.
But for now, this is it! Everything is fairly easy, just the rovers arm is a little tedious.
Stages:
Main engine start, and smoke decoration.
Rocket release and SRB ignition.
Set of two SRB jettison.
Set of three SRB jettison.
First Stage detach.
Orbital stage activation, one engine.
Orbital Stage detach.
IMPORTANT NOTE!! SWITCH OVER TO LANDING STAGE AFTER STAGE 7!!!!
- Solar panel/transfer panel detach.
(Recommendation: set heading to retrograde)
9.Parachutes.
(Recommendation: Activate once friction heating stops, or around 15,000 meters)
Heat shield detach.
Rover + Sky crane detach.
Full rover detachment.
Rover wheels.
Controls:
Throttle is throttle.
Ag. 1 after stage 11, set slider 1+2 to all the way forward. Lengthens the “cable” and lets wheels down.
Ag. 2 slider 1+2 turns the antenna.
Ag. 3 Slider 1 backward to move Main camera up.
Ag. 4 turns main cam. Up and around.
Ag. 5 slider 1 forward all the way, slider 2 any way you want; activates the rover arm
Ag. 6 speed 1+ slider 2 any way you want, just not back, moves arm again.
Ag. 7 slider 1 turns arm end. Slider 2 spins the “drill.”
I’ve spent a lot of time on this so I really hope you like this. I will post just the rover in a few moments.
Disclaimer: Not mobile friendly, also do t set time to Slowmo while still on the launch pad. It will surely destroy the entire rocket.
Just the Rover, so you don’t have to land it
Thanks, and good day!

@MansBestFriend not a problem mate, you tried your best and made a beautiful rocket design.

Oh, I tried for this a long time ago but I’m pretty sure it’s nearly impossible, especially for someone like me. My apologies @TheTwoanie2000

Okay, thanks. For me, I’ll probably just work out the other parts. Like the descent, and landing. Anyway, thanks! @sflanker

This is really cool, good work. The vizzy you've done so far is pretty excellent, and hopefully we can get some more of the transfer maneuver working well. I'll let you know what I come up with but it may be a few days.

Thanks! Soon I might have a fully automatic version, but that depends on vizzy.@Fachri789
