It's basically different types of "talks" on a wide range of topics from around the world. looking at the TED website, they sum it up like this: "TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED's overall mission to research and discover 'ideas worth spreading.'"
there've been some really cool cutting edge tech demos (or at least POC) on all kinds of things like groups of intelligent microdrones that fly in formations using no ground input, instead flying based on just the software on-board to prevent mid-air collisions and other obstacles. (That was several years ago, and now they can be seen in all kinds of displays, kinda like fireworks.) There was another that would autonomously bounce a tennis ball off of the top and calculate in real time where it needed to be to continue to bounce the tennis ball. Kind of like playing Pong vertically and using a drone as one of the paddles. really cool stuff.

Thanks, @JSO18. I had to watch one of these TEDx talks today. It was boring and I found my mind thinking about SR2. Then the lightbulb went off and I ended up building this in my head. Once back at my computer I made this and It turned out pretty much exactly as I pictured in my head. The only thing I changed was the social distancing. heh
