The total length of the rocket is 56.97 meters, and its takeoff mass is about 869 tons. It has a delivery capacity of 25 tons in Low Earth orbit and 14 tons in Geostationary transfer orbit. It can complete the launch missions of various spacecraft such as Low Earth orbit satellites, Geostationary transfer orbit satellites, Sun-synchronous orbit satellites, space stations, lunar probes, and Mars probes. The Long March 5 project was officially approved for development in 2006. On November 3, 2016, the Long March 5 successfully launched for the first time at the Wenchang Space Launch Site, sending the Shijian 17 satellite into its predetermined orbit
