History
RMS Olympic, sister ship of the Titanic, was commissioned in 1911 and launched in 1910. She embarked on her maiden voyage in 1911, establishing herself as a luxurious and reliable vessel. In 1911, she collided with HMS Hawke, causing substantial damage but managing to return to service after repairs. In 1912, Following the Titanic incident, Olympic underwent significant refitting to enhance safety measures, including the addition of more lifeboats.
During World War I, she served as a troopship, ferrying soldiers across the Atlantic. In 1918, Olympic famously rammed and sank the German submarine U-103, during the war Olympic made herself a nickname "The Old Reliable".After the war, Olympic resumed passenger services, enjoying continued popularity. In the years leading up to her scrapping, Olympic faced declining passenger numbers due to the economic challenges of the Great Depression and the aging of the vessel.Eventually, in 1935, she was retired from service and sold for scrapping, marking the end of her illustrious career.
