Fully re-usable spaceplane with enough cargo capacity to send a moon lander out to Luna and back again. Nearly as long as a 747 and half as wide, you will need all the runway you can get to get off the ground.
Specs:
Size: 56 x 31 x 12 m
Dry weight: 66,800 kg
Fueled weight: 560,000 kg
Cargo bay size: 10 x 6.6 x 4.4 m
Payload weight: 20,000kg to 300km orbit (5% deorbit fuel)
Max payload: 50,000kg to 70km orbit (3% de-orbit fuel)
Max take off payload 130,000kg to 80km (won't make orbit and you will need 50% flaps at takeoff)
Stall Speed (full flaps, empty): 45m/s
Max speed (empty, sea level): mach 1.65
Activation Groups:
1 - Jet Engines
2 - Rocket Engines
3 - Flaps (Slider 1)
4 - Cargo Bay
5 - Piston with dock port (Slider 2)
6 - Gyroscope
8 - Landing Gear
Instructions
-Launch on runway
-Set heading to +25 deg
-Activate stage 1
-Max throttle (jet engines will be slow to spool up)
-Raise landing gear at takeoff
-At 275 m/s increase heading to 45 deg
-At 25,000m reduce heading to 30 deg and deactivate jet engines (group 1)
-Continue to orbit like any other rocket
-Open bay doors and launch payload
-Use remaining 3-5% rocket fuel for de-orbit burn
-Set heading to 0 deg
-Activate jet engines and fly to runway
-Glide in and approach with full flaps at about 60 m/s
-Touchdown around 50 m/s

@Iamsodarncool Maintaining stability on re-entry was the hardest problem. I had to make the battery and gyro much larger and put them all the way in the nose to balance it. Also had to add the tail section with horzintal stabilizers to really solve it.

@Kell Thanks! Yours was the one that got me hooked on trying to build a SSTO that could launch a payload capable of a moon landing.

@mtuchris This thing is awesome. Mind if I take some inspiration from this?
