Hi! This is a moon rocket that you can use to get to the moon and back. It is an upgrade of my original moon rocket. I have tested this myself, and I succesfully brang back the capsule. I am a noob so there isnt many cosmetic features. Here is how yo fly it:
- Liftoff, Gravity Roll. You should start a gravity roll at 3000 meters, and your rocket should be pointing at a 60 degree angle of attack at 10,000 meters.
- BECO. Seperate the boosters. This is tricky, as they are so big. If they dont seperate cleanly, dont worry. You might loose an engine. This is meant to happen to such a large booster. If you lose more than 2 engines on the core stage, restart. Its still fairly early into the flight.
- Getting into orbit. Get into orbit by firing the second stage. This should be simple. Fire the engine at the apoapsis until you can circularize.
- Trans Lunar Injection. Fire the second stage when your craft has the moon on it’s horizon. Fire until you see another line pop up (It should arc some bit and be a separate line from your trajectory. Do not ditch the second stage.)
- Getting to Lunar Orbit. Fire the second stage retrograde (backwards) when you meet the periapsis of the arc line. You should get to lunar orbit or get to a landing site.
- Landing on the Moon. Still using the second stage, slow down when you hit 20,000 meters of altitude to about 100 m/s. Now make adjustments and ditch the second stage at 1,500 meters. Fire the lander engine, and lower the landing legs via activation group. You should land at around 8 meters per second.
- Ascent, Lunar Orbit, and Escape. Finally, when you are done on the moon, Fire the lander engine and face your angle of attack at 90 degrees. You should then continue up to lunar orbit.
- Coming Back. Finally, fire the engine when the moon is eclipsing your spacecraft from viewing the Earth (basically the far side of the moon) until another your trajectory is an arced line. Go to the tip, and fire the lander engine. This should get you to a very high Earth orbit. Fire retrograde at the periapsis to get an elliptical orbit. Then, fire retrograde at your periapsis again. Rinse and repeat until the lander stage runs out of fuel. Ditch it and use the command module.
- REALLY coming back. Fire the command module retrograde and then ditch it. Use RCS so seperate and distance yourself from the command module. Orient heat shield first, and re enter. Deploy the parachutes at 1,500 meters, and come to a splashdown/touchdown.
THANK YOU sooo much if you decide to use my Moon rocket! I hope you found this helpful!
