The AuG-11 was and still technically is the premier light fighter of the Etranian Air Force.

First built in 1962, the fighter combines a variety if "lessons" learned from the sucsessful Etranian invasion of Krustania, and unsucsessful invasion of Arizova. It has canards to help perform in high-stakes dogfights, and to keep stability in normal flights in general. It has a generally good strike capability, and extremely good BVR capability.

the AuG-11 recieved an upgrade package in 1970 upgrading it to a 4th generation aircraft. The new aircraft was named the AuG-11-B2. It recieved electronic warfare capability, which helped, but also hindered it's sucsess.

In 1972, a large radar contact appeared over the skies of Etrania. 4 AuG-11-B2 fighters scrambled to intercept, and identified it as a Sloan-Ballistics built transport/bomber aircraft. The Plane would not respond to radio callouts, and since it had Krustanian marking (relations with the country were not good at the time) it was inncorectly assumed to be a bomber conducting a raid on a nearby city and airbase.

The AuG-11's first tried to force the plane out of the sky with manuvers, but after nothing had happened, they turned on their radio jammers so the transport could not communicate with potential controllers on the ground. Two infa-red seeking missiles were shot bringing the transport down. unfortunatly, the plane landed in a suburban area and leveled 12 blocks of houses.

The incident was blamed on an asteroid, but rumors of UFO's were started to make people believe the metal bits recovered were part of an alien spaceship.

What was on the innocent transport you ask? five kids with bone disease on an important flight to Obsido for treatment. The reason they did not respond to radio was because of a small but contained electrical fire which damaged the old piece of junk's radio. Fortunately, two kids survived, only one has knowledge of the incident, but forces were able to convince the two they crashed at sea and were recovered by the Cedrician Carrier Strike Group.

The AuG-11 was also used extensively thoughout the Etranian military coup which crippled the once great nation. this was also the event where Etrania's Prime Minister, Kuiper, was killed by a political opponent.

The AuG-11 will still likely see use very far from now in the Krustanian, Obsidian, Etranian Republic, and more air force for years to come.
