Packet Rocket Racer

She’s a good “career game friendly’ racing jet for the “Village Air Races”, and can be crewed by one droonaut. She requires the techs “Getting Comfy” & “OP Leaf Blower” (also “Touching the Sky” tech for the wing flaps). I managed to complete the last Village Air Race (5 minute time limit) with at least 20 seconds to spare!

For Flying: She tends to be a nose diver, so before takeoff trim her down a tad by setting the pitch slider around -24%. It’ll make a noticeable difference in how much you have to fight the pitch while fling at speed. Activation Group 1 turns the engine on and slider 1 controls the flap settings.

For Landing: to get a nice slow landing (65-75 meters per second) into Juno Village runway, reduce thrust to around 4% with flaps down (slider 1 position -75% is prolly all you’ll need). Just as you cross the runway cut all thrust and you may still have to nose her down a bit as she tends to want to pitch up with the flaps extended to -75% but with a bit of practice you should be able to set her down easily and get stopped with the brakes.

Try and keep her from going above Mach .80 as the craft can become aerodynamically unstable!
    ……….
This issue can probibly be fixed by making the wings a bit thicker (this is what I’ve been told but hav not actually tested the theory myself)

It worked! Yay! The landing wasn't perfect, but that's because I didn't have much practice landing a plane on the Juno Village Runway. I can now unlock the ALI runways, and those should be much easier to land on. I think I might try this craft for that contract.

@Toinkove, ok. Thanks for helping. I usually quick save after each checkpoint.

@VectronTechnologies only with the “cutting corners” air race did I quick save during a race. Mostly because that race is pretty long and there is one particular checkpoint that is really difficult to hit without slamming into a ridge of terrain.
    ………
Otherwise I just quick saved before take off and just flew the races a few times (with a good number of failures) The first few rounds should be easy but as the time limit gets shorter you really need to know the course well and when/where to slow down or speed up!

Did you ever have to use quick saves?
