The Orion IJ-4A is a light STOL interceptor developed by the RUAF. With High maneuverability combined with high speed and low development costs in mind, the IJ-4 was developed to compete in a bid for a new bomber interceptor against the IJ-3, a much faster but also much less maneuverable interceptor aircraft. In the end both planes won the bid, however during the largest conflict of the era the IJ-3 would be the aircraft to eventually see combat.
IJ-4 squadrons were held back to defend against a possible counter attack, as the aircraft at the time was deemed far too under-equipped to deal with the most advanced Aqanian fighters and lacked the range to give the desired effect of taking out air targets over the western sea. The aircraft was sold to other countries shortly after the war, ending its uneventful and short service with the RUAF.
