The Tupolev Tu-22 I is the first superosnic bomber made in the Soviet union . It's Maiden flight was on the 7th of september of 1959. The Tu-22 entered service in 1962 and was faulty and ureliable. It had a top speed of just over 2,000 Km/h it was built to be capabble of nuclear cruise missles and 9000kg bombs.
Overall the Tupolev Tu-22 was a not very susessful aircraft with not so flattering nicknames. The Tupolev Tu-22 Was retired in 2000 and was operated by the Soviet Airfoce and the Ukrainian Air Force.
