@HermesAerospace its a relatively simple process, first I use the designer tools mod in orthographic view to get the perfect side on image, then I paint the lander fully white or black and then change the designers background color to whichever is opposite, screenshot it, take it into inkscape and then I trace bitmap to automatically separate the white from the black which gives you the shape of the object then you can trim anything left over on the image (usually the UI also gets traced) and there you have it, I also use this method to easily cut out spacecraft since you can then use that cutout image to clip a picture of the spacecraft but painted and you get the cutout image with the right lighting and paint
