spinlaunch.com to see the real one
Will toss a sattalite up to about 2,000 kg into orbit with small RCS adjustments on luna, launches 1100 kgs about 8 km high on Droo, 300kgs up to 15 km
How To Use
Before doing anything, set time frame to (x 1/4), otherwise the parts fly apart.
Slow - mo keeps it together.
Slider 1 Push all the way up. Motor will reach about 600 rpm within the first revolution
Pause, 1/4 forward, pause, until you have the rocket facing upwards (at least not pointing at the ground/buildings, like the second picture is close to optimal angle on Droo. For Luna, it's better to release coming out of the bottom or just before going over the top), while paused, activate the interstage and switch to the object being launched. Hit play and be flung around 900 m/s on luna, 550 m/s on droo. It flips a lot but eventually zeros out even on Luna. Sattelite can be flung all the way to Droo from Luna and only RCS is needed to set orbit heights.
Early Prototype
Will now make the real SpinLaunch, which just recently succesfully launched a Dart 10 km Heigh on pure kinetic energy. This is a test, and it works, so I will be making the Proposed Full Size Facility with automated release (this is the tricky part) and try to figure how to release it without it flipping (Looking super close though it looks like theirs flips out of control on release too, it just gets through the tube before it starts spinning). May need a redesign all around, but the concept works :)
via glitches, i managed to get the tiny rocket already on it to break the speed of sound, 179 times over
New design is spinning 500,000kgs at 1,890 m/s, so the new one will launch anything 🐒
@YaMomzBox420
😆
@FriendlyFin lol neither did I, but apparently if you have a big enough fan it doesn't matter!
Sorry, that was my humorous attempt to relay my confusion about using fans... 🤦
@YaMomzBox420
never knew that you could move the air, i thought you could only displace it
@FriendlyFin instructions not clear... Built giant fan. Now DSC is suuuuper windy, but rockets have a harder time fighting the wind now and crash everytime... Lesson learned» build fans in the desert! Also, now's there storms at DSC...
@YaMomzBox420
no, like a fan
@YaMomzBox420 On top of that, you can work as much and as hard as you like, but if the money isn't there to make, you're just wasting time, so that's why I'm back to Denver 🤷🏼♂️
@YaMomzBox420 I was taught what works "for society" and that just doesn't make any sense to me as to why it's "the way". I've got my own ways and just making it happen. Work 50 years at a company that doesn't appreciate you making less than a meager wage to maybe have a retirement fund when they kick you out the door three days before you're set to retire so they don't have to pay you just won't work for me. This plus that done a certain way makes for more sense than what society teaches and I've got the skills for it. Just have to do it 😊
@FriendlyFin you mean like a propeller?
@MechanizedBlackSheep damn that sucks! It seems like it's a pretty common theme for younger people these days... If your family didn't make sure that all the doors in life are open for you, then you basically have no choice but to bash yourself repeatedly against those doors until something gives. The biggest problem I've been facing is the fact that I was prepared for a version of reality that doesn't exist outside of textbooks and TV, so I'm basically just trying to figure out how to "live" in the first place.
@YaMomzBox420
spoiler: fans work
@YaMomzBox420 kind of. I'm staying around the Parker area. I was left for dead in Aurora basically last year. Got out of it, moved to Oklahoma, couldn't make money I needed to save my life and now I'm back in Parker repeating history. I came from $30 the first time. Started with $10 this time and moving on up
@MechanizedBlackSheep lol nice! My little brother works at the ski resort in Aspen(I know there's more than one resort there, but I don't know which one lol). Do you know where the San Luis Valley is? Or more specifically, Alamosa or The Great Sand Dunes National Park? That's the area I grew up in(mostly at least). Now I live in Portland, OR though(it's simultaneously the worst place I've lived and my favorite city to live in. Really, it's a great place, but the winters suck bad enough that I want to go back to 3 feet of snow and negative temperatures. Plus, since Covid started, the city has been completely overrun by drug addicts and psychopaths to the point that it's considered weird if you're not one yourself)
@YaMomzBox420 I'm in Denver now. Was in Oklahoma until this month. Yes I chose to come here 😂
@MechanizedBlackSheep lol double threading this conversation 😄 9° at night. Where do you live, the mountains? Great Lakes area? Alaska? Lol I remember nights being like that. I used to live in southern Colorado where we had -20° nights with a 25-30° wind chill at this time of year. There was actually a few nights that dropped below -45° making it officially the coldest town in America including Alaska for those particular years. Where I live now doesn't get below freezing temps very often(one week out of the year and only every 3rd year or so does it stay cold for more than that), but when you're soaking wet from the rain 45° feels like 10° so you actually feel colder than you would in a dryer, colder climate lol
@YaMomzBox420 the game is practically unlimited in what you can do. You may have to pull some tricks or illusions to get the final outcome to be right, but it can be done. Plus new craft and equipment come out like anything else on a daily basis. There are so many underground projects that take some digging but a little time on Google can lead to some other interesting things.
@MechanizedBlackSheep
Not sure what you mean by that. I'm assuming it's the list of Starship versions on the site? If so, I get your point, but I also have to point out the fact that "Starship" and "Falcon 9" replicas are super popular due to the shear amount of publicity involved between constant news updates and the nearly weekly livestream of various launches and tests, while companies like SpinLaunch have been in the news, but very little else is available, so a lot of people just don't know. Astra for example had come onto my radar about a year ago, but only after their most recent launch made the front page of the papers did people start making Astra replicas by the dozens
@YaMomzBox420 9 degrees at night sleeping and trying to work non stop when I'm awake so I'm right there with you. Just focus on what you can use to get better, make money, or make improvements. Let the rest go. It's what "appreciate what you have" really means.
@MechanizedBlackSheep also, you've stumbled onto something else in your response to @FriendlyFin which I've thought of before. Maybe I'll try that instead if my other design doesn't get anywhere
@YaMomzBox420 I could also point out a spontaneous search for "Starship" 🧐, so don't let it get you down.
@MechanizedBlackSheep yeah, but the only purpose to me making it was to be the first to do so, which isn't happening now... Also, considering that mine can barely throw a projectile 500 meters, I just can't compete in terms of usefulness.
I'm sorry for being a downer, I really like what you've been doing and I appreciate your positive attitude. I just have a terrible life(I'm homeless and working, which is worse than just homeless because it takes 90% of my time and energy just to get to work enough to be able to afford going to work. I have no family or friends, and have lived out of a backpack for over 2 years at this point so I've lost all hope of having a "normal" life) and I'm depressed all the time between that and the 6 months of non-stop clouds and rain where I live. This game is basically the only thing I have some control over in my life and the only positive outlet I have in the world.
I'll try to finish my version and make it work better so I can release it, but no guarantees. I guess I should probably try still since mine at least has a similar visual appearance to the real thing even if it doesn't work
One thing I've seen done but not always very well are craft that use electric or some other high efficiency jet engine until the atmosphere gets thin then switch over, but there's a lot of weight issues so range is not easy to get. Usually the amount fuel needed to escape the first SOI is too heavy for efficiency engines so you have to just put boosters on or something rocket related and that kills the green part 😞@FriendlyFin
Not to mention, there is more than one correct answer, so yeah I may have one but you could have the same but do it an entirely different way, and someone else can have another. Look how many unguided missile versions we have in this game 🙈 @YaMomzBox420
i actually thought of using powerful fans in the lower atmosphere and engines in space for greener rockets
