The Agena (designated RM-81 by the United States Air Force) was the upper rocket stage designed by Lockheed for the United States' WS-117L reconnaissance satellite program.
From 1959 to 1971 it was the most used as an upper stage. It has been combined with four versions of the Thor, with the Atlas and with the Titan 3B. NASA used it as a Gemini target for in-orbit docking and the Department of Defense as a payload satellite.
