China Railway-Shaoshan 8 Electric Locomotive

Shaoshan 8 Electric Locomotive (SS8) is one of the electric locomotive models used in Chinese railways, jointly developed by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Factory and Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute. The Shaoshan 8 type electric locomotive is a four axle quasi high-speed mainline passenger electric locomotive, which is a key scientific and technological research project of China's eighth five-year plan ("Eighth Five Year Plan"). It was originally designed as an electric locomotive for the Guangzhou Shenzhen Railway, and later became the main type locomotive for traction and acceleration of passenger trains on China's mainline railways.
