* ALDEBARAN v2.5 *
What is new in Version 2.5
- 8 additional small Hovering Support Engines
- New Hovering Mode (AG9)
- Vizzy VTOL v1.5
Version 2.5 deliveres now the missing Hovering Mode (AG9). With Slider3 and Slider4 you can hover forward/backward (Slider3) and to starboard/port (Slider4). Depending on the slider position you can hover with -4 m/s to +4m/s in every direction.
Version 2.4 with many improvements
- Mass Distribution optimized for Vertical AND Horizontal mode
- Landing Stages, light chains and such stuff
- Vizzy VTOL v1.4
This vessel has a Vertical AND a Horizontal operating mode which are both equally supported.
This required a very accurate mass distribution, especially for a non-symmetric vessel like the Aldebaran in its typical hull characteristic.
So when the fuel burns down the Center of Mass nearly stays constant in proximity of the Center of Thrust in VTOL mode, leading to a very good balanced vessel. On the other hand in horizontal mode the Center of Mass nearly stays constant in proximity of the Center of Thrust Axis during complete burning time. In combination with well choosen P/D parameters (I, normally very usefull in PID controller, does not work for me in Juno, don't know why) this works very nicely hand-in-hand with the VTOL 1.4 Vizzy Landing program (tested on Moon).
Last but not least the Aldebaran is fully Vanilla and has enough fuel for a restart from Moon to orbit.
Have fun, Juno friends!
Tom

@Samps0n Thank you for testing ! I will try to reproduce this and then deliver a new version. The landing program is still not very robust I think. Let me see how to improve this. Thank you ! Tom

The landing program was running, really cool btw, and I am down to 250m at 10m/s then it then it turn the wrong way up, by 60 m I was completely inverted,

@TomKerbal Yeah, also I dare you to make a simple version of the Donnager! Or Harman Dae-Jung.

@JanusSpaceIndustries Thank you, and YOU TOO ! Congrats to millenium :-)

@Samps0n I have modified the initial break (when it comes to zero speed and pitches to zero) in that way, that it simultaneously rolls to zero. Problem was the timing, sometimes it take too long to zero-pich (=> crash). Should be better now.
I will make some tests. Currently I see no HydroLOx plumes, that's also bad for testing.
