Courage Rover Mk II has been completely redesigned from the ground up! It's built to get you across moonscapes with SPEED.
Building on the lessons learned from the original Courage Rover, the suspension and drivetrain have been moon-tuned for greatly improved handling on lunar landscapes.
This rover has all the features that made the original great, and some big improvements:
- Now 25.8 m/s (90+ kph) design speed and much greater stability
- 4x4 system with 65/35 front wheel torque bias
- RCS system to flip you back over if you get turtled, with enough propellant for 60+ flips
- Fully yeetable - yeet yourself off of mountains and crater rims, this rover can get back up and keep driving
- 3-camera system: one boom mounted with integrated floodlight, and one with night vision
- Wide-angle driving light and high-intensity floodlights
- Fixed and folding solar panels
- Upgraded battery and propellant onboard, with loads of new compartments and "saddlebags" to customize your loadout how you want - fill up the saddlebags with dead weight, and you can pretend you collected moon rocks :D
- Roof rails to protect your solar panels from getting smushed
- Slider use has been totally eliminated, freeing them up for whatever you want - boom camera still pans with Roll
- Pictured is the rover painted in my custom Aurora Aerospace livery, but for you it's been repainted with stock Europa colors so you won't get it with a bunch of unpainted white parts
- Redesigned aesthetics to make it look mean - like something Batman might have
- This version is not prepacked in a cargo bay (the original had some problematic deployment issues). Instead there's a side interstage on the back that you can hook up to your own cargo bay. The rover is pictured here attached with a 60% interstage, which is enough force to yeet you straight out of the cargo bay.
Thanks for trying this out!
