The Reusable Combined-Cycle Flight Demonstrator was a concept design for an air-launched scramjet research vehicle. The vehicle would use a combined cycle propulsion system consisting of a scramjet for high Mach flight (3.5 < Mach < 7) and a turbine for lower speed cruise (Mach < 3.5). Like the X-43, the RCCFD would be air-launched by a B-52 carrier, accelerate to Mach 3.5 on turbojet power, then boost to Mach 7 on scramjets, decelerate, and finally cruise back to a landing site on turbojet power to be later reused.
This variation is an SSTO spaceplane, but based on this comprehensive design study by W. Hinz and J. King at Northrop Grumman:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eg7Gh5xXTe9Nr9DmPRWSN7Cy8gQAYvz-/view?usp=sharing
