Hi all. Today I want to present to you my new project Hephaestus

How to take off?

very simple
1. You just need to hold the shuttle position and increase the throttle (hephaestus leaves the ground at 50%)
2. Then you need to slightly raise the nose (10° is enough) and activate the propulsion engines (1 group)
3. Once you have reached the desired speed (150 m/s is enough) you can turn off the vertical engines
4. Congratulations, you have successfully taken off

We were able to fly in, but how to get down?

A little more difficult but also quite easy
1. For descent into the dense layers of the atmosphere, a speed of 2000 m/s is recommended, but Hermes can withstand higher speeds (it all depends on the planet)
2. Move the nose up 5° from the motion vector to brake.
3. When you reach the desired landing point, the most interesting part begins, there are many ways to land VTOL shuttles, you can use any of them, because I can safely say that at this stage Hermes has impressive maneuverability, control is more similar to control of a quadcopter than to control of a huge 300-ton cow. (Achieved due to the difference in engine power and their quick response)
Hurry up, the fuel reserves of vertical engines, as well as the electricity needed for their operation, are limited (vertical engines consume fuel in 200 seconds at full thrust)
4. Extend the landing gear and land

Docking also remains simple; to automatically activate the port you need to be within a 1 km radius of the target

Love it! I had done a few of the mods you did one this one, to the one you posted earlier. She’s a sweet ship!

@JNOgeek Yes, it really is. But in the last post I stressed that the atmosphe lander is a beta version. Hephaestus is a modified version, which adds RCS, maneuvering using engine thrust difference. It also features improved aerodynamics, deflecting wings and many others.

I don't know if it's intentional but this is the atmospheric lander ii made by you. Thought I'd mention it. I love your rockets though.
