Solid boosters
Atlas 5 used the AJ60A solid booster produced by Lockdyne, and began switching to the GEM63 solid booster produced by Northrop Grumman on November 13, 2020. The 400 series can be bundled with 0~3 solid boosters, the 500 series can be bundled with 0~5 pieces, and the N22 type that launches the Starliner bundles 2 pieces. GEM63 has a total length of 1.61 m (63.2 inches), a total length of 20.1 m, a mass of 49.34 tons, a mass of 4.81 tons after burnout, HTPB propellant, an average vacuum thrust of 1234.8 KN, a maximum thrust of 1645 kN, a vacuum specific impulse of 279 s, and a standard operating time of 97.6 s. Core level
The core stage body length is 32.46 m, the diameter is 3.81 m, 284.089 tons of propellant (RP-1 kerosene + liquid oxygen) is filled, the dry weight of the 400 series core stage is 21.054 tons, the dry weight of the 500 series core stage is 21.351 tons, and an RD180 double-chamber liquid rocket engine is used, the sea level thrust is 3827 kN, the specific impulse is 311.3 s, the vacuum thrust is 4152 kN, and the specific impulse is 337.8 s. Level 2
The second level of Cosmos 5 is the famous Centaurus upper stage, the version used is Centaur-III (also known as the universal centaur), diameter 3.05 m, total length 12.68 m, filling capacity of 20.83 tons, there are two versions of single and double engine, single engine version dry weight 2243 kg (400 series) / 2247 kg (500 series), twin version dry weight 2458 (400 series) / 2462 (500 series) kg, all using RL10A4 hydrogen oxygen engine, vacuum thrust 99.2 kN, Specific impulse 450.5 s. [2] Beginning with the AV-050 mission on December 13, 2013, the single-engine version was switched to an RL10C-1 engine with a thrust of 101.81 kN and a specific impulse of 449.7 s. The AV-091 mission on May 18, 2021, the single-engine version was switched to the same RL10C1-1 engine as the Vulcan Centaur 5, with a thrust of 106.0 kN and a specific impulse of 453.8 s. [3] [4]

Level three
Atlas 5 will add the Star-48B solid-state engine as a third stage during some deep space missions such as New Horizons, which weighs 2141 kg and burns out 117 kg, with an average vacuum thrust of 68.63 kN, a maximum thrust of 77.80 kN, and a vacuum specific impulse of 292.1 s. [5]
