Here is a guide on how to use it effectively
PELICAN 5 GUIDE
LAUNCH: EAST can be in any direction
Throttle up to 100
at 5,000
Turn to 74.
When your apagee reaches 50,000
turn to 80.
Start to throttle down slightly into 40-70 region and cruise up to 100,000-120,000
When your apoapsis is 100,000 -120,000
Continue to hold 80 and throttle down to 0
take this opportunity to switch to your second stage command chip and set a moreover node to automatically achieve orbit
When at the top of the apoapsis release second stage and select the option to auto burn on the maneuver node
LANDING THE BOOSTER
After realising the second stage turn the booster to 16-20. and burn towards the launch pad remember to not burn ahead or directly onto the target, only burn a little bit as the rotation of the earth will account for the rest of the distance
After you burn your fuel could be anywhere between 14-20 which is good as 10 is the absolute minimum to land the booster.
Flip around and make sure the blue arrow is on top of the green icon
at 80,000 move slider 1 to 100 % to activate the stabilisers
As you descend do little burns if the blue arrow drifts away from the green icon
Once you pass 60,000 your speed should be around 800,1000 You now need to throttle up to 15-30 for the final leg of the decent
At 13,000 make sure your speed is 400-500 for the final landing burn deploy legs at 12,000
and slowly slow down keeping thrust activated anywhere between 7-20 or more if your speed is too high
slowly descend you must be at least 30ms when less than 600-700 m of the ground than before touchdown cut the engines
Once down speed the game up by 10* to make sure the legs don't flip out on you as they sometimes do.You should have anywhere between 0 fuel to 7 fuel on the ground
PS landing on one of the pads is very tricky and takes time to master.
