The rover that could... turned a few hundred yards into a marathon, and 90 days into 15 years. Upmost respect to the NASA and JPL crews that worked on Oppy. I've always been a Curiosity/MSL dude, but it's still so sad losing such a remarkable bot. Thank you to Oppy, for making the mysterious planet 55 million km away seem just next door.

    ThanksOppy

a bit of history: Opportunity was launched in 2002, arriving a few months later, like the Mars Pathfinder and Curiosity rovers, discovered liquid water underneath mars' north pole. In june 2018, a duststorm on Mars got into Oppy's systems and solar panels, comms were lost and NASA were helplessly attempting to regain control, unfortunately, on the 13th of February 2019 (14th of February for me), NASA Declared that the Opportunity rover was lost and shut down her systems for good, Hopefully, SpaceX when they go to Mars (if they do). can get to the opportunity rover and clears off the dust and get her functioning again (that might not happen) but yeah, lets hope.

    👌 ( i'm sorry)
