Backstory:
The development of the Souyz 5 had been completed except for the methane powered engines, rather than pour more money into a rapidly spiraling project the Souyz 2 powerpacks were installed as a cheap alternative on the first stage. The second stage was a new generation methane/LOX engine pack. The third stage is the Common Payload Booster.
