The LGM-25C Titan II was the last liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missle built by the United States from 1963-1987. It was designed to have a quick counterstrike capability and was the first U.S. ICBM that could be launched from inside the missle silo. Modified Titan II’s were used by NASA for the Gemini space program. After being decomissioned as an ICBM, the remaining Titan II’s were converted into space launch vehicles for satellites and remained in that role until the final Titan II was launched in 2003.
