Nova II has a brand new feature that the previous explorer did not have, and it is a major one, Nova II is equipped with Kronos, an atmospheric lander made to land on moons or planets with an atmosphere, In addition, Nova II is bigger & better overall, especially considering that 99% of the Nova explorer fuel was out of XML, Nova II barely uses XML or Tinker panneling!
Obviously this is inspired by Nasa's iconic Cassini-Huygens!
