My submission for the January Re-entry competition.
The High Velocity Return Vehicle is designed to fly out to the most extreme edge of Droo's sphere of influence, then drop like a comet back into her atmosphere.
The HV-RV 1 can achieve a maximum reentry velocity of +7,500 meters per second by using the potential energy it gains in altitude and a final re-entry burn to punch into the atmosphere.
It uses solid rocket motors to decrease its speed once its made it into the atmosphere, then deploys parachutes to bring it to a gentle landing.
