Here's a 747 capable of reaching low earth orbit to rendezvous with a space station or something else LOL. I made this for a video.
This is only MK1, so there's a lot of things to improve on.
The program automatically retracts the gear for takeoff, and also retracts the landing legs after takeoff.
The weight distribution is terrible without the boosters, so make sure follow the recommended flight profile carefully. (Activate the stage after boosters so that the External Fuel tank is also dropped.)
The craft also wants to rotate so that the 747 is on top of the boosters, so make sure to hit Q or E on windows to stop that from happening and to keep the 747 under the boosters.
Recommended Flight Profile:
1. After Takeoff, roll 90 degrees (depending on your inclination) and make sure the gravity turn is executed with the 747 UNDER the boosters
2. The boosters will take you a fair bit, but when the fuel runs out, make sure to cut all throttle before staging so that the weight doesn't re-orient you.
3. Drop the external fuel tank before you continue to burn so that it doesn't interfere because of the weight
4. Reach orbit like you usually do
5. Dock with something using the RCS Thrusters
Bonus:
After you re-enter, drop the aft engines by staging again so that the weight is distributed properly after you land.
AG2: Vacuum Engines (2)
AG3: Aft Engines (5)
AG7: Landing Legs
AG8: Landing Gear
AG9: Solar Panels
AG10: RCS
I also recommend to download the SpaceX Docking HUD MOD. This craft is long, so getting the pitch and yaw without the HUD is pretty hard.
