Part of the DARPA Falcon project, the HTV-2X, or Blackswift, was Hypersonic Tech Vehcicle meant to demostrate hypersonic technologies that would be used for later weapons platforms. The project's goal was to create a vehicle which could launch from the United States, reach any point on the globe in 2 hours, and strike.
This variation is a SSTO spaceplane capable of bringing 1000 tons of cargo to orbit.
