With only designer tools (mesh2craft not allowed 🐒, learn the designer), a 1 page blueprint, and my build a couple stick rockets experience, I decided to lock myself in the designer...

50 hours & 232 Parts later...

This.

Slider 1 is flaps
Slider 2 is speed brake (only cosmetics right now)
7 is lights
8 is the Gear
Low part count
Low physics (5 pieces) Medium game physics setting worked well.
No scripts, strictly flight model tuned with physics.

First real build

More to come on this one, but for now just be gentle on the pitch once you get going over 200 m/s, no fly by wire yet (no damper) so it will snap around (like the real thing does) and also mind your yaw, also like the real one with no fly by wire it has a yaw drift to it (hint: use the nav ball and don't go too far away from the direction vector, I'll build a hud and full function mfd cockpit in time). Delicate pitching and it flies just as fast and just as high as the real thing. (800 m/s tower buzz is fun!)

Scaled as close as possible to actual size.
Not much tinker panel, mostly the engines and transparency to hide the physics. If you want to adjust they can be found in the center of the two fins or at the trailing edges of the wings and fins to be selected. Fuel (burn time) & craft weight came out about right. the difference in structure was made up by fuel so we come in around a normal no loadout takeoff weight. Even the price tag is close to real lol.

For the active weapons (AIM-7 Sparrow x4) check the newest post of this one:

I just nailed it! Unguided no mod missile, I GOT IT!!!!! @YaMomzBox420

I may have already got the weapons figured though, I remember getting good straight launches but the plane below up in the areas it launched from, but the missiles went off without a hitch. Going to retry that one but with a different connection setup, I think I had 2 parts backwards and that was the only problem. And that way didn't even use a script 🤯

BTW if you start steam in offline mode the game still works. I've got about maybe 150 hours but steam only shows me at about 6 @YaMomzBox420

The yaw is annoying but comes with the territory of the design. It's a little bit worse than I remember from the other sims, but it's still pretty close and tweaking it makes it over yaw worse, so not messing with it 😑. I've been building up my building skills, 500' bender was made using what I learned making this. The next thing extends what I figured out making bender. Little hint on the next idea: steampunk, you'll either be running it or running from it 🙈 What I figure out making that thing work will help me nail "no mod" weapons. I'm close on unguided missiles but taking a break, tired of boom or dud so build something else and come back @YaMomzBox420

@AverageJoe lol Yeah, the numbers sounded right to me too so I figured you'd like confirmation from someone else(I play on mobile and PC with different settings, and probably different than your settings too. Not so much PC because I don't always have internet for it 🤦). And I also noticed that the only help I really needed from fly-by-wire was for the yaw drift as well as some gentle easing into harder pitch-overs. The roll is just about perfect as is. I just wish the yaw and throttle control weren't combined like they are(using joysticks on mobile) because I can't manually adjust my yaw without accidentally changing my throttle too(hence why the fly-by-wire would be nice). And there's a few things you could do with the stock landing gear to make them better, however if you want that authentic F-15 look, you'd be better off building them fully custom like you said.

And what might your next project be? Or is it a surprise? O.o

It was 292 at one point but as I kept going I learned and figured out more, so I reworked most of the plane and got it down to 232 😏@FriendlyFin

are you sure it was exactly 232 parts?

@YaMomzBox420 that's about right. 404 m/s is about Mach 2.4 which is the limit on the real one. I was doing dives from 17 km and leveling up around 1.4 km to come flat at 400 m and hauling it 🐒. Super quick taps to barely move the pitch or low sensitivity on sticks. The fly by wire works mostly on pitch and yaw drift and keeps you from snapping around too quick and stalling. I'll get that plus some other nice details ( like the landing gear, not much I can do on base game parts but I can hide it and build the real one over it. Real ceiling is 20 km (50k feet) but some dive and climbs done right can get you up a good bit over that.

I've got a few plans for this one but I want to build something funny next 😏

After a little trial and error, I finally managed to fly for about 300 km before I decided to test out some wild maneuvers which, of course, ended up with the plane in the bottom of the ocean... 🙃 However, I did manage to gather some useful data for you in the process. From what I could tell, it's ceiling is ~20-21km and the max velocity I could get was 474m/s. Honestly, it's beautiful(other than the landing gear not looking quite right for some reason lol) and flies amazingly even without fly-by-wire. I can't wait to see what you can accomplish with vizzy on this plane!

    not bad at all!
i've made an F-15 in SR2 back in my beginning days too, but mine's nowhere near as good as this one lol
