Dongfeng-3 ballistic missile (codename: DF-3, NATO codename: CSS-2, series model: Dongfeng-3A) is a ground-based medium-range ballistic missile equipped by the People's Liberation Army Rocket Army (formerly the Second Artillery).
The Dongfeng-3 ballistic missile is China's first type of surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile, and also the first strategic missile designed completely by China. It uses a mobile launch, single-stage, liquid fuel engine.
The Dongfeng-3 ballistic missile was developed in the 1960s. It was successfully tested in December 1966 and entered service in May 1971. It has been retired and has been gradually replaced by the Dongfeng-21 ballistic missile series. Deploy active duty.
