The rising threat in the south china sea forces Indonesias Air Force (TNI-AU) to request a new modern multi role fighter aircraft from its aerospace industries. IPTN the local aircraft manufacturer in collaboration with General Electric (GE) design the F/A 45 Black fox with GE in charge of the main power plant of the jet. The Fox was designed to be an all weather multi role fighter with emphasis on supporting the naval forces with long loitering time that can be extended with auxiliary fuel tanks and the ability to takeoff from short and under equip airfields and easy to maintain by even the most under experienced technicians. The Fox is also designed to be upgradeable with up coming and near future combat systems
