@NebulaX because you need ~20 launches to assembly this thing. 5 for boosters, 15 for refueling

You can get to lunar orbit with just two fully fueled booster modules. To rendezvous with the station, you can use the soyuz service module engine. If you add fuel to the orbit module of the soyuz, you can perform the return to earth with just the SM as well.
