Developed from the Aqanian NORX F-113, the UAF experimented with its new large fleet of captured Aqanian aircraft to develop a faster, more maneuverable and easy to manufacture low budget fighter aircraft. Using migrant engineers and efforts by the UAFs own testing corps, they developed the vastly improved FJ-12B.
While trials of the aircraft proved satisfactory, no orders were placed for the aircraft to enter production. The design was in direct competition with the vastly superior but noticeably more expensive FJ-15 fighter - an aircraft built to counter the Wolfranian K-2. The Orion design bureau attempted to make the aircraft available for export, with the target customer being nations like the PSQ, which was still using inferior Wolfranian K-1 light fighter aircraft. This plan too fell through, as the UAF put its focus on stealth aircraft development soon after.
