The TA-2 Templar is a modified variant of the T-2 Centurion. It is a VTOL capable trans-sonic military assault aircraft armed with a sizable weapons loadout and interior space for astronauts. It can even reach hypersonic speeds of 400 meters per second in descent. The Templar has an improved RCS system to provide better attitude control and a series of gyroscopes which stabilize the craft during take off and landing. The Templar has a extended rear section such that it doubles as a mid sized troop transport as well as an assault ship.
The Templar has more powerful VTOL engines than the original T-2. It has an added afterburner on its forward propulsion engines and rear RCS thrusters. The Templar’s interior can carry about a dozen or so astronauts and can accommodate medium sized payloads. Unlike the T-2, the TA-2 is easier to land and can sustain ground impacts under 25 meters per second. The TA-2 can also transfer into forward flight much more rapidly than the Centurion, and can stop quicker owing to it’s higher brake torque. The TA-2 has larger fuel tanks and operates fully on jet fuel as opposed to the Kerlox and Jet fuel mixture which the T-2 operates on. The TA-2 has an improved navigation system, with stronger gyroscopes and radar. With nine separate weapons options, the TA-2 can drop an impressive amount of ordnance on its targets. Use AG 9 to select weapons and AG8 to fire selection.
