The Large Ultraviolet Optical Infrared Surveyor, commonly known as LUVOIR,is one of four options for NASA's next Great Observatories Mission. If funded, LUVOIR would launch in approximately 2039 using a heavy launch vehicle, and it would be placed in an orbit around the Sun–Earth Lagrange 2.
The LUVOIR Study Team has produced designs for two variants of LUVOIR:
The LUVOIR-A with a 15 m diameter mirror,on-axis three mirror design.
The LUVOIR-B with an 8 m diameter mirror,off-axis three mirror design.
