One of the most influential test rockets in American History. Inaugurated by the USAAF in 1945 with Considilated-Vultee, and also known as the RTV-A-2/Upper Air Test Vehicle, 3 launches with unintended partial failures were conducted at the time the former army branch became the USAF with subsequent budget cuts that restricted the extent of testing. While essentially a scaled down V-2 derivative (Stage B being this; Stage A was intended as a cruise missile design and Stage C an evolved ICBM design based on the technology) What was achieved in the short time it had to fly was employing gimbaled nozzles, balloon tanks (hence the precursor to future ballistic missile designs) and a separable nosecone.
Notice to those who try launching this: fins are exceptionally strong stabilizors and will counteract any gimbaling after the first three seconds of powered flight. Test vehicle is also calibrated with correct thrust and mass (1300kg gross, ~700kg dry w/ 35kN thrust) and capable of reaching realistic altitude.
