Correction:NK-33 was equipped in the N1F Variant and the first variant of the N-1 was N-1L8 which never flew because the Soviet Government had no already interest on going to the moon because the americans go there first and the change of Chief Designers from Vasili Mishin to Valentin Glushko + The Americans announced the Shuttle in which the Soviets responds by the Kremlin quietly gave a go ahead to create a soviet counterpart which will be better than the N-1 and can get to orbit.
