Long March 3B (code: CZ-3B) is a type of three-stage liquid bundled rocket developed by China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology affiliated to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in the late 1990s. It is mainly used to launch Geostationary transfer orbit heavy satellites, light satellites, one rocket with multiple satellites, Beidou navigation satellites and other orbital satellites.
The Long March 3B was developed on the basis of the Long March 3A (CZ-3A) and Long March 2E (CZ-2E) rockets, with the Long March 3A (CZ-3A) as the core stage and four 2.25 meter diameter liquid boosters bundled together. The boosters and their bundled structure are basically the same as the Long March 2E. The overall design of the Long March 3B began in July 1989, but its first launch failed on February 15, 1996. The second launch was successful on August 20, 1997.
