In the new version of SR2 please set the launch location to DSC Launch Pad LARGE and not the new default launch pad.
Simple launch system block 2 provides many improvments over block 1 (B) such as MFDs in the crew capsule, RCS on the simple cryogenic evolved stage, new SRBs (with gimbal!), simple exploration ground systems (SEGS) witch can monitor vheicle operation while on the pad (i am working on improved code for SEGS witch will be realeased in a later update)and much more.
Simple Launch System block 2 is capable of getting to low luna orbit but to get there you have to fly a fairly efficiant ascent profile.
